The series Humans of Verona is inspired by Humans of New York, a Brandon Stanton project
which we deeply admire.
Born and raised in the Valpolicella wine region, Silvia cannot think
of herself out of the wine and food context!
She is an early riser for love of her dog Byte,
and her happy place is a not-yet-explored wine region.
My favorite place is the peak of Corno d’Aquilio, located in Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo on the Lessini mountains, the Pre-Alps north of the city of Verona.
It is the first mountain that I climbed as a little girl.
I was in Primary School on a field trip: it was a titanic enterprise!
I was around 7 years old and I still recall that amazing experience:
-the struggle to get to the top, considering my little girl’s legs
-the fact that I was reaching the top of a mountain that I had seen many times from afar
-the unexpected view from above
All in all, a glorious day!
Still today, when I want some time for myself, I go there.
It is my go-to place especially when I find myself in a challenging moment or situation.
It reminds me that it is possible to get to your goals, it is possible to get “there” if you put effort into it.
The add value is that, after all the fatigue, there is a reward: indeed from that peak you can see the whole region:
all the Verona county,
lake Garda,
my beloved Valpolicella.
It is a landscape that makes me relaxed, a mountain that has become familiar to me.
This is what you get if you go there: you sit down by the summit cross and you simply enjoy the 360° spectacular view.
In my opinion it is a marvel of our area.
You just sit and contemplate. If you go on a week day, you’ll likely be the only one there!
PS If you come to Valpolicella, come and meet me in front of a glass of wine: that is contemplation too, isn't it?
