Want to be like a 1950s Italian family? Choose this old-school, always-trendy lake Garda private guided tour.

Lake Garda is a fragment of the Mediterranean Sea placed at the feet of the Alps. Italy’s largest lake possesses the radiant, aggressive beauty of the South and, at the same time, the dusky melancholy of the North.

Loved by many, from Catullus to Goethe, from Winston Churchill to Maria Callas, Lake Garda flaunts a continuously changing array of colors and scenarios.

Lake Garda is a small sea nested among three provinces, Trento to the North, Brescia to the West and Verona to the East: the eastern Riviera, covered in the rippling silvery tops of the olive groves.

On the tour we walk through Peschiera, an unexpected mix between a former fishermen village and a 15 cent. stronghold, and other major resorts. Then it’s time for a sinuous car ride along the Mincio river, outlet of the lake: from the blue of the lake to the green of the river and the rolling hills.

And the food? That’s the reason why we are leaving the lake. Would Italian families stay on th lake for lunch? Absolutely not! That’s why we head few miles in the south, on the hills towards Borghetto, one of Italy's most charming villages, graced by water mills, pristine vegetation and the glorious bridge of the Visconti.

There is nothing you HAVE to do in Borghetto, just sit down, relax and eat: you are in one of the most celebrated traditional Verona food spots and you can be happily passive! You are about to taste Borghetto’s famous tortellini called nodi d’amore, love knots: their pasta is incredibly thin and the filling is super delicate.

After a couple of glasses of good, local wine and a nice cremino al caffè, indulge to well-deserved afternoon nap on the way back: so Italian!
