Verona Mountains next door

Coolcationing on the Alps 30 minutes away from Verona in the land of Monte Veronese cheese

In the summer the Lessini Mountains are a cool getaway to escape the city heat, an antidote to overcrowded sites,
featuring dairy- based local dishes such as Monte Veronese POD cheese and Gnochi Sbatui:
dumplings with smoked ricotta cheese.

The Lessini Mountains, north of Verona, are very weel known by locals only.
Already from the1950s several people from downtown Verona would spend their long summer holidays there: they would call it villeggiatura, but today we would say "coolcation".

When the summer heat in the city of Verona gets unbearable, typically in July and August, we know what to do: we head to Lessinia for enjoying enchented natural scenery, cool weather and great food.

It is Lnot just about excaping the heat: it is also about immersing in a very green and relaxing natural landscape, dotted by charming Medieval villages.
It is the Italian Pre Alps: high lands that are still unexploited, a real dupe for the Swiss meadows!

Our lunch is based on the very famous local Monte Veronese POD hard cheese and includes a dish of local gnochi sbatui, the oldest type of dumplings of our cuisine, made of very few ingredients: flour, salt, butter, and smoked ricotta cheese.
